Charged black holes in string-inspired gravity II. Mass inflation and dependence on parameters and potentials

چکیده
We investigate the relation between the existence of mass inflation and model parameters of string-inspired gravity models. In order to cover various models, we investigate a Brans-Dicke theory that is coupled to a U(1) gauge field. By tuning a model parameter that decides the coupling between the Brans-Dicke field and the electromagnetic field, we can make both of models such that the Brans-Dicke field is biased toward strong or weak coupling directions after gravitational collapses. We observe that as long as the Brans-Dicke field is biased toward any (strong or weak) directions, there is no Cauchy horizon and no mass inflation. Therefore, we conclude that to induce a Cauchy horizon and mass inflation inside a charged black hole, either there is no bias of the Brans-Dicke field as well as no BransDicke hair outside the horizon or such a biased Brans-Dicke field should be well trapped and controlled by a potential.

Action Growth in f ( R ) Gravity
Abstract Inspired by the recent “Complexity = Action” conjecture, we use the approach proposed by Lehner et al. to calculate the rate of the action of the WheelerDeWitt patch at late times for static uncharged and charged black holes in f (R) gravity. Our results have the same expressions in terms of the mass, charge, and electrical potentials at the horizons of black holes as in Einstein’s gra...
متن کاملRelating black holes in two and three dimensions.
The three dimensional black hole solutions of Bañados, Teitelboim and Zanelli (BTZ) are dimensionally reduced in various different ways. Solutions are obtained to the JackiwTeitelboim theory of two dimensional gravity for spinless BTZ black holes, and to a simple extension with a non-zero dilaton potential for black holes of fixed spin. Similar reductions are given for charged black holes. The ...
متن کاملGlobal geometry of two-dimensional charged black holes
The semiclassical geometry of charged black holes is studied in the context of a two-dimensional dilaton gravity model where effects due to pair-creation of charged particles can be included in a systematic way. The classical mass-inflation instability of the Cauchy horizon is amplified and we find that gravitational collapse of charged matter results in a spacelike singularity that precludes a...
متن کاملQuantum ( in ) stability of 2 D charged dilaton black holes due to back - reaction of dilaton coupled scalars
The quantum properties of charged black holes (BHs) found by McGuigan, Nappi and Yost are studied in 2D dilaton-Maxwell gravity (spontaneously compactificated from heterotic string) with N dilaton coupled scalars. Working in large N approach we discuss the presence of stable (evaporating) and unstable (anti-evaporating) modes in the spectrum of quantumcorrected BH. It is proved that charged 2D ...

The aim of these lectures is to give an introduction to several topics which lie at the intersection of string theory, gravity theory and gravity phenomenology. One successively reviews: (i) the “membrane” approach to the dissipative dynamics of classical black holes, (ii) the current experimental tests of gravity, and their theoretical interpretation, (iii) some aspects of the string-inspired ...
